Pau d’arco (Tabebuia impetiginosa) is a bark also known as Taheebo and Lapacho and comes from a tree predominantly grown in Argentina or Brazil. Pau D’ Arco contains a compound called lapachol, which gives it, it's unique properties. This traditional herb was used for infections and tumours in South America. The antimicrobial action of this herb has been shown against Staphylococcus aureus, including MRSA, Streptococcus spp, Brucella spp, Helicobacter pylori, Clostridium paraputrifactum, Candida albicans, Trichophyton spp, HIV, HSV-1 & 2, polio, some influenza virus, Epstein barr and Rabies, Trypanosoma cruzi, Schistosoma mansoni & Plasmodium falciparum. However Bifidobacteria and Lactobacilli are not adversely affected by Pau d’arco extract (in vitro).

Our Pau d’arco tea is wild crafted and we mostly use it for gastrointestinal infections. It is also used as a complementary cancer therapy by integrative therapists.
